(17 January 2019, Warsaw) – Most Polish workers have expressed a positive opinion about the past year in the labour market. As can be seen in the annual summary of the Confidence Index study prepared by Michael Page, in 2018, 63 percent of the respondents were satisfied with their professional situation, and the domestic job market. It is also important to mention that according to those who took part in the survey, their professional status will improve even further within the next few months.
For Polish employees, the past year in the labour market was a really successful one. As has been revealed by the annual summary of the Confidence Index study conducted by Michael Page, a recruitment company, in 2018, over 59 percent of the respondents were fully satisfied with their employment conditions. Almost 49 percent admitted that they had positive feelings about the stability of their work. A slightly lower share of those surveyed (45 percent) were also contented with their salary. Yet, Polish workers had more negative views on the chances of getting promoted in their companies, as only 16 percent were hopeful about it.

Employees’ expectations towards 2019

Polish employees look to the future with great optimism. Eight in ten respondents believe that within the next six months the situation in the labour market will get even better. What is more, almost 53 percent have admitted to be looking forward to a rise within the next year. 42 percent of those surveyed are expecting a promotion in the same time span.
“Throughout the entire 2018, unemployment was dropping systematically across Poland. According to the Polish Office for National Statistics (GUS), it stood at 5.7 percent in November, which is a record low level that has persisted since September. The big demand for candidates in 2018 made their  standing in the labour market stronger and boosted their chances to get a satisfying offer. From the annual summary of our study, it is clear to see that in the past year, over 58 percent of the respondents who took part in our survey were convinced that they would succeed in finding a new job within less than three months,” says Piotr Dziedzic, director at Michael Page, and member of the board at Polskie Forum HR.
